4 Month Appointment

It's been so long since my last post - sorry. Check out this whole page, and the next one, because I added a lot of stuff from the past 2 months. I'll try to keep up better from now on.

Mia now measures in the 50 percentile in weight (13lbs 9ozs), height, and head circumference. She is very healthy, but she will need some physical therapy to correct a condition called torticollis. Its a strong tendency to turn the head in one direction (in her case the right), and can lead to assymmetry of the face and head. It is very treatable with PT and the younger it begins, the better. She will start therapy at the end of the month. She's been given the green light to start solids like rice cereal and mashed fruit and veggies. She hasn't enjoyed the cereal yet, but its only been two feedings. I have a feeling she's holding out for the sweet stuff like applesauce and bananas.

The High Chair

Mia is so excited about her new seat - the high chair! Now if she can only get the hang of eating solid food. So far rice cereal is NOT a hit, but she's only tried it twice, so we'll see how it goes.

First Day of School

Well, its not really school, but she will learn a lot there and meet lots of great kids. Mia started daycare on Monday and I miss her to pieces! But she seems to be adjusting well, and the caretakers really like her (who couldn't love those chubby cheeks?). Here is a photo from that first day:

Mia's First Roadtrip - Visiting Family in Florida

This past weekend Mia, Aunt Cathy and I visited with Mia's Granddad (Popa), Great Grandma Middleton, Great Aunt and Uncle Debbie and Jim, and second cousins Whitley, Sarah, and Jerrica. She enjoyed meeting everyone, and even enjoyed the long carride - well part of it anyway. Mia does not like to be confined to the carseat, so we had to make frequent stops, but the waitresses at Cracker Barrel loved her so that was fun. Saturday night we celebrated Great Grandma's 83rd birthday.

2-Month Check-Up

Mia had her 2-month check-up yesterday and she is doing great. She now weighs a whopping 10lbs 4ozs and measures 22 inches long. That puts her in the 25th percentile, quite a jump from the 10th percentile where she was at last visit. The hardest part was watching them give her the 4 immunizations, but she took them well. After 30 seconds of hard crying, she was happily sipping on a bottle of milk. Although the doctor said to expect her to be irritable for a day or two, she's been very happy. She is actually less fussy since the shots than normal, and she's sleeping great, so when are the next immunizations?
